Sheffield United coach Chris Morgan says the hard work is paying off after United made it three league wins in a row with a 3-0 home win over Bristol City on Saturday.
United have been struggling to find their league form despite their continued success in the FA Cup but they finally backed up their win over Nottingham Forest in the cup last weekend with two excellent league wins.
Having won 1-0 at Gillingham in midweek, United cruised to victory over Bristol City after Paul Brayford gave them the lead just before half time. Ryan Flynn and Jose Baxter put the result beyond doubt in the second half as United recorded their biggest win of the season when making it five wins in a row in all competitions.
Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Morgan said, ‘The result was exactly what we wanted following on from Gillingham in the week. It’s two big results for us so we are pleased with the games still coming thick and fast.
‘The two results this week have come through hard work and playing some good stuff, particularly today.”
The win was crucial for United, who would have slipped back into the relegation zone had they lost with the bottom half of League One tight.
Just six points separate twelfth place and the final relegation place as fellow relegation battlers Crawley Town, Tranmere Rovers, Crewe Alexandra, Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town all won on Saturday.
United are back in action in midweek when they travel to Colchester United, who are only above the blades on goal difference and they know a win could lift them into the top half of the League One table.
