Sheffield United defender Sean McGinty has joined Rochdale on loan.

McGinty has joined the League Two promotion chasers on loan for the remainder of the season having not played for the blades since the arrival of Nigel Clough as manager in November.

He made three appearances for United under former boss David Weir but he has not featured since the Johnstone Paints Trophy clash at Scunthorpe United in early September.

The 20-year-old, who arrived at Bramall Lane from Manchester United in the summer, has recently had a spell on loan with League Two side Northampton Town, where he made two appearances.
