Sheffield United defender Matt Hill says the defeat at Yeovil Town on Monday left a bad taste in the mouth.

United lost the second leg 2-0 at Huish Park to go out 2-1 on aggregate and lose out in the play-offs for a second season in a row.

‘The taste in our mouth at the final whistle at Huish Park was of immense disappointment because we haven’t achieved our goals this season and that hurts,” Hill told the official website .

Hill initially joined United in March of last season on loan from Blackpool and he made 15 appearances as United suffered the heartache of losing on penalties in the final at Wembley to Huddersfield Town.

This season`s disappointment in the play-offs was made worse by the fact that United still had their destiny in their own hands going into the final weeks of the season. A run of just one win in the final eight games of the regular season putting pay to any chance of automatic promotion, with United finishing in fifth place.

United were also not helped by a huge fixture pile up and they played 11 games in the last 39 days of their season including the play-offs.

The blades must now prepare for a third season in League One next season.
