Sheffield United are to give a trial to Heart of Midlothian defender Danny Grainger according to reports.

The Sheffield Telegraph report that the left back is to join up with the United squad when they report for pre-season training at the end of this month.

Grainger is out of contract with the Scottish Premier League side and he is looking to get his career back on track after suffering an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury last November.

The 25-year-old stated on his own twitter account that he was to join up with managerless United to prove he has recovered from the injury.

“They (United) want to see that my knee is fine, that`s all. By the time I get there, it will be.

“It`s been a rollercoaster at Hearts, but I wouldn`t change a minute.

“Here`s hoping a new start brings as much joy as the Jambos – I`m looking forward to it.”
Grainger put on his twitter feed.

Grainger has made over 200 career appearances since starting his career at Gretna. He has also had spells with Brechin City, Dundee United and St Johnstone.
