Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough has admitted the club have enquired about Livingston midfielder Stefan Scougall.

Clough is hoping to complete a permanent deal for the Scottish under-21 international before the transfer window closes.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “We have shown some interest in Stefan Scougall and we have made an enquiry.

“He is a bit different to what you normally see. He is about six-stone wet through and he is tiny but he has ability and he would fit in well here.

“We hope to crack on with the deal put permanent deals take a little longer. We have to agree everything with the other club and the player.”

Scougall has made 18 appearances for Livingston this season in the Scottish First Division, scoring twice.

The 21-year-old is also attracting interest from fellow League One side Peterborough United, who failed to land the midfielder in the summer after agreeing a deal with Livingston.

The blades face serious competition from Peterborough, who have come back in for Scougall during this transfer window.

Scougall reportedly agreed a deal with Peterborough in the summer but they withdrew their bid after the players agent wanted to change the terms of the deal.
