Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough is in the hunt to bring championship strikers Jonathan Stead and Conor Sammon to the club during the January transfer window.

30-year-old Stead has struggled to break into the Huddersfield side this season making just 13 appearances for the terriers.

Stead is no stranger to blades fans having spent one-and-a-half years at Bramall Lane between 2007 and 2008 when he scored just 9 goals in 47 appearances

Clough signed 27-year-old Conor during his time at Derby County and he has been a regular in the rams side since his arrival from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2012.

He has made 24 appearances this season but he hasn`t started a game since the arrival of Steve McLaren in April.

The blades boss is keen to bring players in on loan and he said after the defeat to Walsall that the pair are on a list of strikers he is keen to bring to Bramall Lane.
