Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough described the win at Gillingham on Wednesday night as a brilliant win.

The blades secured just their second away win of the season, a win that moves them out of the League One relegation places and Clough felt the win was fully deserved.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “It was a brilliant win. It was a brilliant second half performance because I didn`t think we were very good in the first half but I thought the manner that we went about things in the second half was superb.

“It was a thoroughly deserved victory, made even better when you think we made four or five changes from the weekend.”

Conor Coady scored the only goal of the game for United just before the break as he made it two goals in two games.

The win over Gillingham makes it back-to-back league wins for the first time this season and United now get ready for a crucial clash with Bristol City at Bramall Lane on Saturday, with the robins only ahead of United on goal difference.
