Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough was left frustrated after seeing his side lose for the first time at Bramall Lane since he took charge.

United were beaten 2-1 by Gillingham, with crucial errors in defence proving their own downfall.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “To give two goals away in the manner that we did makes it very hard to win football matches.

“I don`t think our goalkeeper hasn`t had a shot to save apart from the two goals. Both goals were our own undoing and it is hugely frustrating.”

The blades were behind within seven minutes when the usually reliable defender Harry Maguire under hit his back pass and Danny Kedwell charged down George Long`s attempted clearance.

Chris Porter made it two goals in two games to bring United level within twelve minutes and they then enjoyed the better of the game in the first half.

As in the first half, United conceded early in the second half when Cody McDonald was quickest to react when Long could only parry an effort from John Mousinho onto the crossbar.

The blades searched for a second equaliser but never seriously challenged the Gillingham goal as they went down to a second successive defeat in League One to remain second bottom.
