Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says he took inspiration for his sides FA Cup win at Fulham by trying to emulate the performance of Chelsea at Manchester City 24-hours earlier.

United booked their place in the FA Cup fifth round with a dramatic last minute winner at Premier League Fulham and Clough says they went out to try to emulate Chelsea, who stopped free-scoring Man City at the Etihad on Monday night.
Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “It was a remarkable effort, we were tremendous.

“We watched Chelsea on the bus on the way down on Monday night at Man City. We told the players to watch them closely, the best players in the country doing what they do. They kept Man City at bay and then they were a threat on the break. We tried in a small way to emulate them.”

United looked dangerous all night on the break and they deserved to book their place in the last sixteen of the competition having created the better chances throughout the games.

Jamie Murphy, Bob Harris and John Brayford all went close to opening the scoring before Shaun Miller sent the 2,500 blades fans wild in the final minute of extra-time when he stooped to head home from close range.

United will now face either Preston North End or Clough`s former club Nottingham Forest in round five at Bramall Lane.

The two sides meet this evening to see who will be travelling to S2 over the weekend of February 15th and 16th.
