Lee Carsley is the latest recruit to David Weir`s backroom staff at Sheffield United.

The vastly experienced 39-year-old has left Coventry City to take up his new role as ‘Assistant Manager – Technical’ at Bramall Lane.

Carsley held a number of coaching positions during his time at Coventry including caretaker manager following Mark Robins departure in February.

The former Republic of Ireland international made over 500 career appearances, spending the majority of his career in the Premier League with Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and Everton, where he played alongside Weir.

Carsley joins Chris Morgan, Adam Owen and Darren Ward as part of David Weir`s coaching team.
