Sheffield United are in talks to sign want away Walsall winger Febian Brandy.

Brandy signed for Walsall on a one-year deal last summer after a successful trial with the club.

The 24-year-old commuted from Manchester last season and despite interest from a number of championship clubs, it is believed that he wants to return north.

Walsall boss Dean Smith believes Brandy is set to sign a deal to take him to Bramall Lane despite the player admitting he wants to play at a higher level.

Brandy started his career with Manchester United as a 9-year-old but despite representing England at five levels from under-16 to under-20, he failed to make the grade at Old Trafford.

After loan spells with Swansea City, Hereford United and Gillingham, Manchester United released him in the summer of 2010.

Brandy eventually signed for Notts County but he made just 9 appearances in his season at Meadow Lane before being released.

The winger spent twelve months in the wilderness including a disappointing spell Greek Superleague club Panetolikos, where he failed to make an appearance.

After being given the chance by Smith at Walsall last summer, Brandy made 37 appearances for the Saddlers scoring 7 goals.
