Jose Baxter felt it was job done after Sheffield United booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win at Cambridge United.

Speaking on BT Sport, Baxter said, “I was happy to see it go in after the headed chance I had earlier. We came here, did a good job and now we are in the next round.

“We came here with a professional attitude and got the job done. We edged them with our performance and maturity.”

The blades never looked back after Baxter fired them into a twelfth minute strike, his second goal since joining from Oldham Athletic in August.

Jamie Murphy added a second in the second half and Baxter, who was part of the Oldham side last season that beat Liverpool before taking his first club Everton to a replay, is now hoping for a big draw when the third round draw is made this afternoon. “It would be nice to get a big draw and cause an upset but the main thing is, we are in the next round,” continued Baxter.

Baxter has only just returned to the starting eleven, after a slow start to his career at Bramall Lane. His start at Leyton Orient last weekend was his first start for the club in almost two months.

The 21-year-old will now hope to find the form that brought him to the attention of the blades in the summer after an impressive first season at Boundary Park with Oldham where he scored 17 goals in 50 appearances.
