The biggest news coming from The Mariners this year has to be signing of former Premiership footballer Mark Bosnich. Bosnich who was undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers of the 90’s in England, just behind Schmeichel and Seaman enjoyed a prolonged spell in the Premiership with Aston Villa, Manchester United and Chelsea before being sacked from Stamford Bridge after being found guilty of Cocaine abuse.

But in the Summer of 2008 he played in a 3-0 friendly win over Sydney FC, impressing everyone in attendance, and even saving a penalty. He was substituted in the 80th minute to a standing ovation from both sets of fans leading to him being signed to the Brisbane club for this season.

They’ve started this season in mixed fortune, a win, draw and defeat showing a lack of consistency but they will be looking to avert this and pick up where they left off last season.
