Neil Warnock, after seeing the team go six points clear following a 1-0 win over Wolves, has sent out a warnign to the rest of the league declaring ‘the best is yet to come’.

Neil Shipperley’s header on 16 minutes proved the decidiing moment in front of 25 553 home fans. This was our 11th win in the 13 games played this season.

Warnock said: ‘We can still get better. We are 75-80% at the moment but I think we are getting better. We’ve worked hard on our defence in the last few weeks because we’ve not enough clean sheets but we looked really solid today against a good side.’

He had praise for Wolves though, not sure I see them as a good side, I guess time will tell.

‘I’d still to be happy to finish above them because they have got quality players. But it’s always nice to bounce back from a defeat (2-1 at Reading 2 weeks ago) and I thought we deserved the win.’

Warnock is however also trying to keep the clubs expectations grounded following our outstanding start to the season: ‘It’s a long old season but I think the lads showed great spirit and commitment right through the team. The older lads are showing the younger players how to do it and that’s the difference.’

Hoddle meanwhile was ‘bitterly disappointed’ Oh dear, how sad, never mind!

(Reading this afternoon cut our lead with a 2-0 victory over Ipswich)
