Following a recent setback, Sheffield United made a point on Tuesday evening against Burton Albion and more than kept their Play Off dreams alive.

Defeat to Fulham left many disappointed as did the draw against Ipswich Town but Chris Wilder’s side once again made their own point at Bramall Lane in midweek.

Taking a two nil win against Burton with goals coming from Enda Stevens and David Brooks, United saw themselves jump into seventh place in the table and now sit only two points behind Middlesbrough in the last Play Off spot.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, the reaction from the group was Wilder’s most pleasing thing as at this stage of the season it was a ‘big win’.

‘It was a big win in what we know is a massive week for this football club and the support was terrific once again. It wasn’t the most free flowing performance and Burton missed some chances, like we’ve missed chances in the 14 games we’ve lost this season. But the biggest thing is coming out and winning games, the boys in there know exactly what they’re playing for and what’s at stake. It’s a huge week and we’ve started well and got a deserved win.’

Wilder went on to say that he was full of praise for Burton and their own achievements and he feels they will still shock people this season.

‘I wouldn’t back against Burton picking points up off teams before the end of the season, they’re in decent nick as we saw and have nothing to lose. People don’t expect them to be in the division and everyone thinks they are dead and buried, but we don’t think like that. They’ve got a professional pride and Nigel was coming back here looking for a result.’

Ahead of the game Enda Stevens received his first Republic of Ireland call up so it was great for him to cap that with a goal.
