Vital Sheffield United looks back at the games between Sheffield United and Brentford at Bramall Lane over the years.

They have previously met on thirteen occasions with both sides having won four times and there has been five draws.

Last season saw one of the most bizarre games you will ever see.

Referee Keith Stroud took centre stage on an extraordinary night at Bramall Lane.

Over 23,000 were present at Bramall Lane as fifth placed United faced third placed Brentford.

Stroud showed three red cards, eleven yellow cards and awarded four penalties, of which, two were missed.

Brentford finished the game with nine men, United ten, as Tony Craig and Clayton Donaldson were sent off for the visitors and Harry Maguire was sent off for the hosts.

United looked like they were heading to three crucial points after going behind from the spot in the first half, Tony McMahon and Barry Robson scoring to fire the blades ahead.

Marcello Trotta put Brentford ahead from the penalty spot on 23 minutes when George Long brought down Clayton Donaldson in the area.

A crazy night at Bramall Lane saw Brentford equalise in the final minute of normal time and there was still time for McMahon to hit the woodwork for a second time in the evening.

United are unbeaten in the last four meetings at Bramall Lane and you have to go back to the 1982/83 season for the last Brentford win.
