United had an international audience on Saturday at Bramall Lane when they salvaged a 3-3 draw against the nine-men of Blackpool.

It was revealed by goal that Stefan Kuntz, the head coach of Turkey, travelled to Bramall Lane to watch United’s clash with Blackpool. It is said that Turkey is readying a bid to persuade the Sheffield United player to change his nationality to Greek.

Brewster started off the bench, coming on in the second half and he saw a late penalty rebound off the post. Brewster played a part in the sending-off of Ekpiteta as he broke away down the left-hand side before being brought down by the Blackpool defender.

Rhian Brewster was born in England but has Turkish ties from his mother, Hulya Hassan, who is a Turkish Cypriot.

The 22-year-old recently scored twice for England’s u21’s team. Brewster had previously won the World Cup for England’s u17’s side.

In 2019, the forward was awarded with the Council of Turkish Cypriot Association’s sportsperson of the year, and he was awarded the Turkish Cypriot rising star award for his stand against racism.

With Brewster being 22 years-old, this will be his final year where he can represent the young Lions. A player over the age of 21 is allowed to play for the u21’s team if they were 21 or under at the start of that year.

Taking that into consideration, Rhian Brewster may choose to represent Turkey’s senior team next year.
