It’s being reported today that Sheffield United have been successful in a £4million offer for Brentford centre-half John Egan.

Sky Sports reported just before midday that their ‘sources’ understood that United launched a firm offer of the £4million for the 25-year-old player and that bid has been accepted by the Griffin Park outfit.

Our interest in Egan has been long-standing and rumours suggested we were in for him during the last January transfer window but to no avail. We also know him well relatively well as he’s been at Bramall Lane previously during a loan spell in 2012 whilst he was contracted to Sunderland – he made one first-team appearance.

He made the move to Brentford back in the summer of 2016 and he has 71 appearances to his name for them, with a return of seven goals and he now has two international caps to his name for the Republic of Ireland.

One to watch I would think.
