Sheffield United have reportedly accepted a seven figure sum from Burnley for striker Billy Sharp.

The striker, who enjoyed a lengthy loan spell at Doncaster Rovers last season, and was subject of a £750,000 bid last month, but with a summer of rebuilding supposedly ahead, it appears the bid by Brian Laws’ team was too good to refuse.

Burnley, appear to be preparing for life after Steven Fletcher, and also captured the signing of Wolves’ Chris Iwelumo yesterday.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell had stated that the Sheffield-born striker would be in his plans next year, but after ‘the club’ declared an interest in Daniel Bogdanovic, and are within days of completing the deal, it appears Sharp is surplus to requirements.
