Midfielder Paul Coutts is rated as doubtful ahead of tonight’s SkyBet Championship clash with Birmingham City at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United will be looking to get back to winning ways after a string of four consecutive league victories came to an end last Saturday, following their 1-0 defeat at Bristol City. A victory would have taken Chris Wilder’s Blades to the top of the league, but having left Bristol empty handed slipped down to fifth before last night’s fulfilment of fixtures. The Blades could see a familiar line-up against Birmingham City, from the side which started last weekend. Midfielder John Fleck missed out due to a groin problem but is a strong contender to return. Fellow Scot Paul Coutts isn’t quite ready despite played 90 minutes in last Monday’s Under-23 outing, which saw the Blades comeback from a two goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest U23’s at Stocksbridge.

Birmingham City have had a sour start to the season and have only accumulated five points for their efforts, and are languishing just above the relegation zone, but picked up a worthy point last Friday night at home to West Bromwich Albion.

They have still yet to register a victory, having drawn five of the seven matches played thus far. Queue their first victory tonight!

Blues boss Garry Monk could be without midfielder Craig Gardner who remains doubtful after picking up an injury in training prior to their 1-1 draw with the Baggies in the Midlands Derby.

They are also without long term absentees Isaac Vassell and David Davis. Vassell has already been sidelined for the last twelve months with a knee injury whilst Davis isn’t expected to return until around Christmas after fracturing his ankle in pre-season.
