The Rotherham United manager Matt Taylor has fired a warning shot to Sheffield United, as he states that he wants an “attacking” performance from his side at Bramall Lane.

Although the Millers come into this South Yorkshire derby in shocking form, winning just a single point across their last five matches, Rotherham United have attacking talent of their own and are eager to put out a statement performance on Tuesday night.

Matt Taylor told The Star:

“I’m not looking for a defensive performance, first and foremost. I can’t keep asking this group to go out and defend for 90 minutes. It’s not what I want or they want or our fans want. We have to go and attack the opposition.”

Rotherham have had some poor results on their travels thus far, winning once in nine attempts. Last time out on their travels they held a 2-1 lead against league leaders Burnley before conceding two injury-time goals to lose the game.

Taylor explains:

“Come full-time tomorrow I want to be talking about our attacking players. We’ve not got many left, but I want to be talking about them.” [The Star]

The Millers have won only twice since Matt Taylor came in as the boss following Paul Warne’s departure to Derby County earlier in the season. As they face their local rivals Sheffield United on Tuesday evening, they’ll be hoping to register their ninth victory against the Blades in the history of this fixture.

For the Blades, this fixture is a potential banana skin as they eye up a fourth victory in a row, in the lead-up to the world cup break.

We know Sheffield United are in great form, whilst Rotherham United are in tragic form. But, in a South Yorkshire derby form is of insignificance.
