I suppose this is as good a compromise as you can get.

It’s not perfect by any means, but it does as least give us an advantage for the time being.

According to a report from ESPN, Manchester United are set to reject any and all bids from potential suitors this summer for goalkeeper Dean Henderson, with them only accepting loan offers for the goalkeeper at this time whilst they “continue to draw up a plan for his long-term future.”

There has been plenty of speculation regarding the future of the goalkeeper in recent weeks, but this can only been as a positive when it comes to Sheffield United and their chances of holding onto the 23-year-old stopper. Whilst there were reports that Henderson could be on his way elsewhere, this new stance by Manchester United makes the likelihood of him returning to Sheffield all the more possible.

Will Henderson be a Blade next season?

No

At this stage, Manchester United don’t really have any other option than to let him come back to Bramall Lane, for next season at least.

He’s settled here, is comfortable in a system that is letting him flourish, and he’s putting up some excellent numbers as a result of it. Why would they risk his development by making him change to another system where he might not be as effective?

I’ve said before that Sheffield United would essentially be putting themselves in the same situation in 12 months’ time when it comes to bringing Henderson in on a full-time basis, and although that can get tiring with the ability to kick the can down the road, at least this news gives us some level of stability for the time being.

Which as I said at the beginning, isn’t perfect, but it’s a good start.
