Report: Latest Premier League decision could have a major impact on Sheffield United’s finances

|

Well this would certainly be a quick turnaround.

And it would give us something to actually talk about that’s modern rather than having to wait around for the club to do yet another flashback tweet.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, the Premier League are working on a rather ambitious plan to get the league season restarted in the first week of May as a way of circumnavigating some of the financial impact that the lack of football is having on clubs.

We have seen clubs like Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur having to furlough staff for the foreseeable future, and whilst we can argue about the moral rights and wrongs of whether or not they should do it, the fact is that clubs are starting to feel the pinch.

And given that Sheffield United won’t exactly be washed with money until the end of the season when the prize money is given out, as this report from Yorkshire Live details, we might be in a similar situation ourselves pretty soon.

Are you struggling to cope without real football to watch?

Yes

Yes

No

No

I think this would be a pretty good move, if not a slightly chaotic one. I’ve said before how football needs to come back as soon as possible because of the emotional and mental aspect it can have on our lives, but now we find ourselves talking about the financial aspect of it.

The Blades aren’t exactly the richest club in the world of football, and with the constant delays that we are having, this is only going to add to us having to keep scraping by.

If we can get the season over with as soon as possible, then we can take the money and be more secure as a result.

It might sound a bit greedy, but that’s kind of the world we live in right now when it comes to football.
