Report: Blades handed boost in their pursuit of Championship man as he appears ready to quit

|

An update that might just give us the advantage in the whole situation?

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see won’t we?

According to a report from Football Insider, Sheffield United target Matty Cash wants to quit Championship side Nottingham Forest in order to pursue a move to the Premier League. The Blades had a bid for the 22-year-old rejected the other day, and it’s as yet unknown if we’re going to go back in with an increased bid in the future or look elsewhere.

In my mind this gives us (and West Ham too I suppose, because they’re in for him as well) the advantage, because if he wants to move, then it just increases the chances of Nottingham Forest wanting to get rid of him because they don’t want to have a potentially disgruntled/disruptive player in their squad.

How much will Sheffield United spend this summer in total?

£50m or more

£50m or more

Less than £50m

Less than £50m

At the end of the day, we don’t really need Cash, we can go and look elsewhere and we’ve got the money to afford to bring in someone else if we want to. But with Nottingham Forest in the Championship, and coming so close to being in the playoffs and having a shot at promotion, they’re going to need the money more than us if they want to invest in that squad and make another push at promotion.

And there may be a time where push comes to shove and they are forced to sell him because they’d rather invest that money rather than have him in the team when he clearly doesn’t want to be there anymore. That’s where we (hopefully) come in.

What about you? Do you think this is good news for us in our pursuit of Cash?
