Lancashire-born referee, David Webb, will officiate the Carabao Cup Round One tie between West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United this Thursday night.

He will be joined by his Assistants, Andrew Dallison, and Mark Stevens. Jeremy Simpson is named as the fourth official.

The referee has officiated one professional fixture thus far this season. This was the Championship fixture between Blackpool and Reading on 30th July, where the hosts won 1-0 and Mr Webb issued one yellow card. Last season, he officiated 36 matches and brandished 4 red cards and 119 cautions (approx. 3.30 per game).

Previously, he has taken charge of 17 matches involving United, issuing 48 yellow cards, and 3 red cards. On 31st August 2013, Webb officiated the home fixture with MK Dons, which the visitors won by a single goal. In this fixture, the referee also brandished his first red card in a Blades’ fixture, to Fabian Brandy in the final minute of the match. He also issued a red card to John Egan in the 1-1 draw with Millwall in 2019, en route to promotion to the Premier League.
