Irish midfielder Stephen Quinn is determined compatriot Paddy Kenny will return to first team action for Sheffield United.

Kenny, whose nine month ban was upheld last week, is out of action until April, but the Blades midfielder, speaking to the Sheffield Star wants the fans to know, we haven’t seen the last of him yet!

‘It is a terrible time for Paddy, I feel so sorry for him.

‘I texted him the day before and on the day of his appeal. Paddy is a massive character around the changing rooms, especially in our promotion push last season, and we are really going to miss his voice on the pitch.

‘We are all devastated for him. We really thought the FA would be lenient with him and cut him some slack.

‘It wasn’t to be but, knowing Paddy, I am sure he will come back because he is such a determined lad.

‘I think he still has got a future at the club. His form and performances have been top, top class over the years for Sheffield United.

‘I think the least the club could do is stick by him because he has pulled off some magnificent saves over the years for us. He has been a great servant to the club so I am sure they will give him their full backing.’

Kenny’s contract is up in the Summer after United opted for a one year extension at the end of last season, so his future is still in doubt, but if the manager’s state of mind is that of Stephen Quinn, then he could be set to extend his seven year stay at Bramall Lane.
