Blades fans (and Vital Rotherham United member, Herringthorpe!) will be encouraged by the news today that Stephen Quinn is nearing full fitness.

The promising youngster has not featured for the Blades so far this season, after injuring his ankle in the pre-season friendly with Alfreton.

However, it seems the midfielder is set to play for the Republic of Ireland U-21’s tomorrow evening, when they take on Portugal.

It is hoped that Quinn will not only gain match practice but also increase his fitness as the Blades prepare to take on Wolves next weekend.

Quinn will also be boosted by Bryan Robson’s words, as the Blades manager told the Sheffield Star:

‘Stephen needs games really. It’s as simple as that. He’s doing well but he’s just a little bit rusty.

‘But yes, he’s definitely part of my plans and a part of my squad, the same as anyone else.’
