The transfer deadline shut permanently today at 5:00PM until it re-opens on 1st January 2019. With two defeats from two Championship fixtures played Blades fans like myself was expecting a flurry of incoming signings but with the deadline now passed it looks as through United won’t be seeing any new incoming players.
The only transfer business Chris Wilder was involved in, was to allow 31 year old midfielder Ricky Holmes to join League One side Oxford United for the remainder of the season – teaming up with Samir Carruthers who joined the U’s earlier in the campaign on a similar deal.
The Sheffield United Official website has reported that Holmes has joined the club with immediate effect.

Vital View;
We feel disappointed that the Blades haven’t brought in any new faces. United do need to strengthen in other areas although we do believe that Holmes, who was signed last January hasn’t quite fitted into the team as us supporters would have liked. A loan move will be good for both club and player and once he returns at the end of the season he may be in a better position to fit into the United Xi – or move onto another club.
