Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has said he sees no reason why the club can’t secure back to back promotions this season as we head into the Leeds United derby this weekend.

Following on from the League One title last season, United hit the ground running this year and established themselves in the upper reaches of the Championship table, with only one win in the last five we have slipped to eighth in the table, five points out of the Play Off spots.

That’s not something that concerns Wilder who remains as positive as ever as he knows a couple of wins on the spin and drawing a line under back to back defeats this weekend will take us one step closer back to a possible Wembley journey, even if the automatic spots would be considered a step too far.

Speaking to the Star Wilder said that until it was impossible to achieve, why not aim high.

‘If people want to write us off, which I`m sure they are doing, then that`s up to them. If they want to say that`s us done, they can do that if they want. It`s fine by me. But I know the spirit that`s in this group and I know they can go again. I know better than anyone the character of these boys.’

With some selection issues ahead of this weekend’s tie, Wilder is yet to decide whether to bring back on loan Chelsea stopper Jamal Blackman if he’s passed fit or whether to give a full debut to Jake Eastwood.

The main focus however is ending the run of defeats.

‘We have to get over it quickly and set ourselves up for a grandstand finish. Because were still in the fight and it`s still all to play for. I don`t think there`s anything wrong with the character of our group, in fact I know there isn`t because they prove it every single day.’

As for Leeds, he added.

‘This game against Leeds takes care of itself. We`ll have a full house and the support from up the road is going to be a sell-out too. These are the type of matches everyone wants to be involved in and I know the lads are going to be up for it as they and the fans always are.’
