Sheffield United’s search to bolster their backline continues after former loanee Paul Connolly joined Leeds United yesterday.

Connolly, who impressed during his spell at Bramall Lane, despite picking up a red card was a target for Blades boss Blackwell this summer, but has instead opted to sign for Simon Grayson’s men.

The defender, signed on loan from Derby County made seven appearances for the Blades, and brought an element of stability to the side when Blackwell’s backline was depleted.

Speaking of his move to Elland Road, Connolly said, ‘There were others – but Leeds gave me a concrete offer.’

Connolly’s acquisition, could leave former Blade Leigh Bromby looking elsewhere if he’s to guarantee himself first team football.
