Sheffield United battled to a 1-1 draw at inform Walsall as both sides remain in a promotion battle.

Walsall moved a step closer the play-off places with their point, whilst United are now six points off an automatic promotion place.

The home side took the lead just before half time when Craig Westcarr swivelled to shoot past George Long in the United goal.

United earned a point half way through the second half when Chris Porter was first to react after Kevin McDonald saw his shot hit each post.

The blades are at home in midweek against Crawley Town and desperately need three points to re-ignite their automatic promotion hopes.

One Reply to “Porter salvages point for blades”

  • Awful first half, they battered us and it could have been all over, but much better second half. Porter changed the game and McFadzean showed a bit more determination to get forward. Not sure about Forte up front, he doesn’t seem able to read the game.
