Sheffield United progressed to the second round of the FA Cup, winning by the odd goal in five thanks to a late Chris Porter penalty.

The blades looked to have thrown away the win after leading 2-0 after just twelve minutes.

Defender Harry Maguire continued his hot streak in front of goal this season when he headed home his fifth goal of the season for the blades after ten minutes and the lead was doubled two minutes later when goalkeeper Sam Walker put through his own goal.

An early second half goal from Macauley Bonne and a long-range effort from Luke Garbutt just past the hour looked like earning Colchester a replay until Porter scored from the spot with just nine minutes remaining.

The blades will find out their second round opponents when the draw is made at 4.10pm this afternoon.
