Palace Will Look To Get Back To Winning Ways When They Host Blades

|

Crystal Palace will be looking to getting into winning ways when they face a Sheffield United side tomorrow that is pretty much down on their luck having yet to win a league match thus far this season.

They ended 2020 with a promising point in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City, but despite being a creditable draw, doesn’t paint the entire picture of Palace’s season. They currently sit fifteenth in the table and are seventeen points better off than the Blades. However, their last victory came in a 5-1 thrashing at West Bromwich Albion on 6 December and since then have drawn three out of five league games played, though they were also on the end of a 0-7 humiliating defeat by reigning champions Liverpool.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is expected to be without striker Connor Whickham, Martin Kelly (calf), Nathan Ferguson (thigh), and keeper Wayne Hennessey through injury. The Eagles are also without former Sheffield United defender Gary Cahill though a thigh strain, though it seems a lifetime ago that he wore the red and white. He was signed by Bryan Robson on-loan from Aston Villa. Ironically he made his Blades debut on 22 September 2007 in a 3-2 defeat at Crystal Palace and played his final game at home to Barnsley in a 1-0 win in December. During his time with the Blades, he played in 16 league games and scored twice, both in a way victories at Stoke City (1-0) and at Charlton Athletic (3-0).
