After being sent out on loan, the England under 21 winger, along with Billy Clarke, were instant successes at the Lane. Phillips grabbed six goals in six games for the Blades and in a recent interview has spoke with high regard about his time with United.
He told The Star
I would definitely come back if an opportunity arose…I went to United wanting to add goals to my game and I feel I have done that. Hopefully I helped the club along the way…I have been over the moon with how things have worked out and I would like to thank the lads and management for making me feel so welcome.’
Although a return for the pacy winger is unlikely, it is pleasing to see a young footballer appreciate what their loan club have done in aiding their development.
