I did wonder how long it was going to take before clubs started circling around him.

Granted I didn’t think they’d take quite this long to start making things ‘official’ as it were.

According to a report from Sky Sports, there are four Premier League clubs that are interested in bringing Blades midfielder John Lundstram on board this summer. The fact that he’s only got 12 months left on his current contract seemingly forcing the clubs to spring into action in hopes that the Blades might sell him now rather than risk losing him for free next summer, something that the club are not totally against according to some reports.

Lundstram has been one of the key figures for Sheffield United this season, scoring five goals and contributing three assists, all whilst having a pass completion percentage of 82.7%, so to lose him would certainly be a major blow for the team on the face of it.

Should Berge now be in the first-team on a regular basis?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, this is something that I believed has been the plan for the Blades for a few months now. With Sander Berge now playing a more consistent role in the first-team alongside Oliver Norwood and John Fleck in the middle of midfield, impressing many fans along the way, I don’t think that it’s inconceivable to think that we might sell the 26-year-old this summer in order to help fund the rest of the squad (like that goalkeeper we’ve been hunting for some time).

Perhaps Berge’s increased run in the team was to pre-empt this move and get the team adjusted to the presence of Berge and the absence of Lundstram getting ready for his departure?

What about you? What do you make of these reports surrounding Lundstram?

I really like Lundstrom. He is always direct and one of the few players who pose a goal threat, which Berge does not. What concerns me more is where are the goals going to come from? We badly need a proven goalscorer. Next season is going to be tough and the lack of goals is going to prove a problem,
