Don’t get your hopes up.

That appeared to be the stance that Yorkshire Live’s Nathan Hemmingham wanted to get across when talking about Sheffield United’s business in the transfer market. With the international window closed, there’s still the chance the club can make some moves with EFL clubs as the ‘domestic window’ isn’t going to shut until 5pm a week on Friday.

And that has got fans talking about the possibility of the Blades making a move for one David Brooks. Rumours surfaced on Deadline Day from @FourthOfficial_ that we were in for him, and it garnered a lot of responses from excited fans about a potential move.

However writing for Yorkshire Live, Hemmingham shut down any notion that the club were going to pursue the Welshman, saying that: “Yorkshire Live can confirm reports suggesting United are in for their former midfielder are not true.”.

Will David Brooks play for us again?

Yes

Yes

No

No

I suppose the matter isn’t entirely helped by Chris Wilder saying a couple of weeks ago that he’s an admirer of Brooks’ talent and would love to bring him back, so that may have played a part in some of the commotion, but it looks like as things stand, there’s little to no chance of things happening.

That’s not to say a move is totally off the table, things can still change between now and then, such as another long-term injury, but just like VAR, it’s going to take something ‘clear and obvious’ in order to change the stance of the club.

What about you? Do you want to see Brooks back at Bramall Lane?
