Summer signing, Anel Ahmedhodzic has arguably been the best signing of the summer by any Championship club, not just in terms of his CV but in terms of his performances this season as well.

The Bosnian centre-back is not an ordinary defender. Ahmedhodzic, 23, has showcased that he has a special talent. His athleticism and reading of the game allows him to sweep up any form of danger when the ball is played in behind the back line. Plus, Ahmedhodzic has a good spring in his jump which allows him to win aerial duels.

Ahmedhodzic is one of Sheffield United’s biggest attacking weapons. Whether he is driving up the pitch to break a press, playing disguised passes to split lines, creating chances for his teammates or even finishing chances himself, Ahmedhodzic has no limitations to his game.

Unfortunately for United, he has been out injured since the international break, and they’ve struggled without him.

When Ahmedhodzic has started for United this season, they have won 7 of the 8 games he’s started in, drawing the other 1. And in that time, they have scored 18 goals and only conceded 3.

But without the Bosnian, United are winless, losing 2 of the 4 games he hasn’t started in, and drawing the other 2. In that time they have only scored 2 goals and conceded 4.

United face a tough away test at Stoke City this afternoon and are likely to be without Anel Ahmedhodzic for the third game running.
