Kieron Freeman and Paul Coutts were informed they weren’t in Chris Wilder’s future plans when he arrived at Sheffield United and were transfer-listed.

Now back in favour they’re poised for new deals under the United boss!

Without any offers coming in for the pair, both signed from Derby by a former boss Nigel Clough, remained at Bramall Lane but remained out of favour until they managed to get a chance and take it.

The contracts they’re currently under expire at the end of the season but talks over new deals are going to take place with Wilder telling the Sheffield Telegraph he’s aiming to speak to them in the New Year.

‘We`ll be looking at the (contract) situation going into January and trying to get a few things sorted out then. Even though they wouldn`t be able to leave until then anyway, I think it`s fair to say that the position regarding Kieron and Paul has changed. We won`t be trying to do anything right this minute but, if they carry on as they are, then we`ll be speaking to them after Christmas. Probably a few of the other lads who, with regarding to their deals, are in the same boat too. It`s just about being organised and making sure things run smoothly.’
