Neill Collins has been rewarded for his Sheffield United form by signing a new long-term contract.

The defender, who signed from Leeds in 2011, has agreed a two-year extension with the option of a third.

Collins, as he told the official website, had this to say: ‘I’m pleased everything is done and dusted, quickly and amicably.

‘There are many factors why I wanted to stay and not least because I love it here. We’ve got a good side, the club is great, the management team are fantastic to work with and I think I’m thriving.’

With a number of younger players in, and around, The Blades squad senior players like 29-year-old Collins are very much needed to help nurture and bring these younger players through and do their part to help develop them.

Collins is worthy of this extension, so it’s a good move for all concerned.
