Sheffield United full back Jordan Stewart has joined Greek side Skoda Xanthi, after just one season with the Blades.

Brought to Bramall Lane on deadline day as a makeweight for the Lee Hendrie transfer, Stewart featured heavily for the Blades due to injuries to Andy Taylor and Gary Naysmith. Earlier inthe season, Stewart claimed he wanted to finish his career with US club LA Galaxy, but Greece is the preferred destination for now.

It leaves Kevin Blackwell with a hole on the left-back positions following the departure of Gary Naysmith two weeks ago.

Just Taylor remains as the only recognised left-back in the squad, and Blackwell has been quick to act as he looks to add competition. They have already missed out on Scunthorpe’s Marcus Williams who opted to join Reading, so attentions have turned to Aberdeen’s Charlie Mulgrew, who is believed to be catching the eye of Celtic.
