Iliman Ndiaye and Senegal have made it to the knockout stages of the world cup where they will play England on Sunday at 7PM.

The Sheffield United forward has had to be patient in Qatar to get his chance to shine on the biggest stage in football. Ndiaye was left on the bench as an unused substitute for Senegal’s first group game against the Netherlands.

Due to a lack of goal threat against the Netherlands, Senegal coach Aliou Cisse sent a warning to his forwards stating that he was unhappy with how they performed in their opening game.

This led to speculation that Ndiaye could start for Senegal vs Qatar, however, that did not happen. But, the talented and versatile forward did make a substitute appearance late on in which he set up a goal in Senegal’s win, and he showed his dribbling abilities on the right wing.

His impact off the bench in his 16-minute sub appearance left Aliou Cisse no choice but to start him in their final group game against Ecuador, where they needed nothing but a victory to clinch 2nd place in the group.

Iliman Ndiaye had a great first-half performance against Ecuador and they entered halftime 1-0 up. Naturally with Senegal in the lead in a game where they needed to win, they began the second half extremely cautious, so Ndiaye dropped much deeper on the right into a defensive mode.

During the first half, Ndiaye again showed his silky skills from the right wing and every time he had the ball he looked promising.

With two impactful performances from United’s joint-top scorer, you’d think Ndiaye is in line to start back-to-back games for Senegal and face the Three Lions on Sunday night.
