With us having some ‘well documented’ defensive issues Nigel Clough has revealed that he’s considering recalling Harrison McGahey from his loan spell with Tranmere.

McGahey, I believe, went out on loan to the League 2 side on loan until the end of the season but with us including a ‘recall clause’ we can bring him back after 28-days and with this thought to be up after the weekend Clough’s spoken in the media to reveal that he’s considering such an option.

‘There’s a chance we’re going to bring Harrison back as defensive cover.

‘I think we can do after Saturday. That’s when his 28 days is up and we’re probably going to do that this week.’

The 19-year-old had made 22 appearances in the first half of the season but since the turn of the year he had found first-team chances harder to come by so the thinking was, quite rightly, that he would be better off going out on loan so his development didn’t suffer.

Clough concedes that a recall wouldn’t be ideal, and he would sooner leave him out on loan, but sometimes needs much and bringing him back might be needed!

We’ll know more next week I suppose, but as said, we’ve certainly got to do what’s best for us and our promotion challenge haven’t we.
