Oli McBurnie expertly dispatched a volley home on Friday night to grab United a point on their travels at Kenilworth Road. This broke a 43 game duck for United’s number 9, everyone will be hoping that this will provide McBurnie a platform to build from.

Though recently struggling to score goals, Oli McBurnie has previously demonstrated that he can score goals at Championship level. The Sheffield United forward has netted 31 times in 91 appearances in the Championship, with the bulk of them coming for Swansea City in the 18/19 Championship campaign.

McBurnie since signing for the Blades has only scored 9 times in 99 games for United, the majority of those came in the Premier League during United’s first season back in the Premier League.

The Scottish international told The Star how former Blades striker David McGoldrick helped him during his barren run in front of goal, McBurnie said:

“Didzy got in touch, telling me not to go chasing the goals because they’ll come. He had his own periods when it didn’t happen for him, but the fans still loved him because he put it all in. I try to do the same thing, no matter what. I can’t speak highly enough of that guy.”

McBurnie expanded:

“He’s my closest friend in football, a true friend for life. I would do anything for him, seriously. I think so much of him and knowing he’s got my back as well, that really means something.”

The Blades face Reading at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night. This’ll be the 4th home game of the season for United, and they currently hold a 100% winning record at Bramall Lane this season, after beating Millwall, Sunderland and Blackburn.

Will United be able to extend their 100% record at Bramall Lane, and can McBurnie find the net in back to back matches? They will have to overcome top of the league Reading if they wish to do so.
