Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock seemed fairly happy with his player’s performance at the Reebok while Sam Allardyce felt his team made hard work of the three points.

Warnock said:

‘I thought it was a good game and we tried to attack when we could. We knew that they would subject us to long throws and corners.

‘We dominated the first half hour and it was only the latter end of the half that they got on top…

‘The pleasing thing is we stuck together as a team and worked well against the physical element of Bolton.’

It was certainly a much improved performance from the Blades, but one of Warnock’s comments suggested he was watching a different game?

Warnock added, ‘I don’t think we’ve anything to be down about, in open play we probably created more chances than they did.’

Bolton certainly didn’t dominate the game but anyone who was at the Reebok yesterday (except Warnock it seems) was in no doubt that the home side created the clearer chances.

Allardyce said:

‘We made hard work of it due to a combination of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping from Paddy Kenny.

‘We needed the points and it was a game where the result was more important than the performance.

‘I was wondering if it was going to be one of those days where we were going to get punished by them on the break.’
