Neil Warnock was obviously bitterly disappointed by the last gasp defeat to Blackburn but tried to take the positives out of the game:

‘I didn’t think it was a free kick, if he had given them all over the field there would have been 20 more free kicks. That’s football and it’s a cruel game.

‘All the lads are down, but you expect that. I thought we played very well, surprised them with a number of guilt edge chances, I counted about four!

‘We showed a lot of character and were the better side, we created the better stuff. The defeat is hard to take but there were pluses.’

Warnock also believed that one man in particular was the difference between the two sides, adding ‘Bentley was miles ahead of everyone and Armstrong did well to stick with him, there’s a few lessons learned today.’

Meanwhile, Mark Hughes reserved special praise for, match winner, Morten Gamst Pedersen and United’s work rate:

‘It was a great goal. The technique Morten has in that sort of situation is as good as anybody I have seen.

‘We were made to work hard and that’s credit to Sheffield United because they did the same.

‘In the end we possibly got a little bit more out of it than we deserved and in fairness that is credit to Sheffield United who worked extremely hard.’
