Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough says there is a deal in place with parent club Liverpool to keep Conor Coady at Bramall Lane for the remainder of the season.

Coady, who has so far spent the season on loan at Bramall Lane, is due to return to Anfield following the game with Bristol City on Saturday but Clough feels the best place for the 20-year-old is Bramall Lane as he gains regular first team experience.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Clough said, “There is an agreement for him to remain with the club for the rest of the season.

“He is a young player and he is improving and we feel this is the best place for him at the moment.”

Coady turns 21 next week and he has grown in confidence as the season has gone on at Bramall Lane.

The young midfielder made it back-to-back goals for United in the win over Gillingham on Wednesday night, his winner coming just three days after he scored the crucial equaliser against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup win at the weekend.

The England under-20 international has made 31 appearances since his arrival in the summer and he has now scored four goals.
