A win last weekend and three points ahead of that lot at Swillsborough, plus a win in the Cup mid-week is a brilliant start to the season.

It was good to see Wilder putting out “fringe” players against Walsall during the week, and it was good to see Ched Evans back in and performing well. I thought he did well for Chesterfield last season when he played against us at the Proact, but to come on in the second half against Walsall and set up two goals, as well as getting on the score sheet (albeit from a deflection), was superb.

I did read that Chris Wilder admits that both Clarke and Sharp are going to have to up their games after Ched`s performance and this can only bring out the best in our front line. We have a good squad for this season to be honest. Lots of competition for places and in my opinion one of the strongest squads I`ve seen at the Lane for many seasons.

By the time people read this article many will be on their way up to the Riverside for the game this evening. I`m gutted I`m missing a few matches, but have only got a couple of days left before I get to travel home and park my backside back on the Kop at BDTBL.

I`ll be watching the game on Sky on our British Forces TV service this evening, and I`m predicting a win for us. Getting another few points will be outstanding for us, keeps the unbeaten streak going.

This season, more than ever, the crowd need to get behind the team and be the twelfth man and give the lads on the pitch the boost they need to have a good campaign.

Hope everyone going today have a safe journey, and as always??. UTB!!
