A late goal was enough to secure Sheffield United a place in the second round of the league cup on Tuesday night.

A late goal was required by the Blades at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night to secure a 2-1 win over Mansfield Town.

The deadlock couldn’t be broken in the first half with the sides going in level at one-all, with the game bursting into life shortly after the break.

Andy Butler’s (53) header, less than 10-mintues into the second half, from a good corner routine put us into the lead, which we would have then expected to see through comfortably enough….

Mansfield didn’t read the script with Alex Fisher (57) finishing well from the edge of the area to level it up just four-minutes later.

With extra time looming Blades striker Marc McNulty (86) produced another good finish to secure us a two-one win and book a second round meeting with West Ham United, the draw was made after this game and we’ll be going to Upton Park at the end of the month.
