Tomorrow United play a behind closed-doors friendly against Mansfield Town, this will be their fourth match of this summers pre-season. The kick-off was scheduled for 7PM, but due to the extreme heat that has now been pushed back by an hour.

Temperatures will reach 33 degrees celsius in Mansfield at around the original kick-off time. The new kick-off time is at 8PM and at a slightly cooler temperature of 31 degrees celsius.

United had to handle similar temperatures in the more exotic climate of Portugal during their pre-season tour. The first friendly of the same was played against local Lisbon side Casa Pia, and temperatures hit nearly 40 degrees celsius.

A statement issued to explain the change said it had been made “in an attempt to give soaring temperatures in the UK at the moment a chance to cool to assist both sets of players.”
