Daniel Jebbison had a good pre-season this summer scoring 3 goals in friendly matches. His improvements in the off-season gave Paul Heckingbottom a decision to make regarding whether to loan the teenage forward out this window, or to keep him in the matchday squad.

The latter has happened because Jebbison gave Heckingbottom no choice, his form coming into the season opener against Watford was really strong. This saw him start the opening game of the season. The promising young forward came on as a sub against Millwall in the second league match.

Jebbison was on media duty [Sheffield United YouTube] for the pre-match press conference ahead of the Carabao cup 1st round clash against West Brom.

He told the media:

“I think there’s loads of stuff to improve still with me. I had a good preseason and I’m just trying to get better.”

In the press conference, Jebbison spoke about the work he is doing with Jack Lester on the training ground to improve his game. He described the impact that Jack Lester has had on his recent development as “huge”.

“I was working with him today after training. Every day he’s on me. He’s very good. Him and Hecky really want me to improve what I’m good at, just abuse the things I’m good at.”

The forward claimed that the Millwall game “was a great game to win”.

He followed up with:

“It kinda gave us that kick, I think from that game, even in training, you’ve seen that little intensity and standard go up and that’s where the standard needs to be all the time.”

Daniel Jebbison could be in the starting eleven on Thursday night in the cup clash against West Brom at the Hawthorns. The England u19’s representative previewed the 1st round cup tie:

“It’s good, something to look forward to. We’re focussed and have a solid idea of what we’re doing. It’s a great opportunity for lads like us to express ourselves and get in the lineup for the big games in the league.”
